The City of Flemingsburg can apply for a grant to develop a dilapidated unused building in the heart of downtown. It is our vision to see the property located at 116 South Main Cross renovated inside and out and turned into office/incubator space. The facility would be mixed use for new or expanding businesses and/or entrepreneurs, to provide space for people needing infrastructure support to create/expand. Office spaces would likely be a mix – some devoted to a specific person/business for a short time (possibly 6 months to a year) while they build their business enough to be on their own; and other offices that are ‘first come, first serve’ on the daily (for those that may not need an office setting every day, but sporadically). The facility would provide internet access, office space with desk and chairs, meeting space, presentation equipment, fax and copier capabilities, possibly storage lockers, breakroom, and other amenities that new/expanding business may need to flourish but not have access to. This would be a place to work quietly and professionally, do presentations, meet with clients, and network with other entrepreneurs, etc. Space may also be utilized as needed to support existing local businesses that do not have adequate meeting/presentation space, to ensure sustainability and possible growth. The city also owns the building beside it, and we are looking to include this building in the grant. This building would be torn down and made into a parking space for Building 1. Parking is very limited in the area, and architects believe an elevated parking lot over the creek with roadway and building access could be placed on pillars, in place of the existing building.
We are asking for letters of support for our endeavor. With this community space available to anyone in need we will be able to provide a meeting space for someone who doesn’t have access to one, or the equipment to have the meeting. We have entrepreneurs that are currently working from home but desire to have a small office space available to them for use.
If you, or someone you know who would like to send a letter of support please email them to mayor@flemingsburgky.org or reach out to Mayor Alexander at (606)845-5951. We love our community and want to continue to see it grow.
Thank you,
