8 hours sick leave for each completed calendar month of service
Employees may carry 480 hours of sick leave forward. In December of each year employees are compensated for all hours above 480 at 30% of their hourly rate. Employees who retire from the city and go directly into the County Employees Retirement System may use accrued but unused sick leave for retirement purposes.
Funeral Leave: up to 4 hours per month.
Health Insurance: 100% single coverage, effective as of hire date
Life Insurance: $15,000, effective 90 days from date of hire
Retirement: CERS *Employees hired after September1, 2008 will be required to contribute 6% (non-hazardous) or 9% (hazardous) effective date of hire. For fiscal year 08-09 the city will contribute 13.50% (non-hazardous) and 29.50% (hazardous). The city’s contribution changes each year in July.
Uniforms: shirts for non-hazardous, complete uniform for hazardous
The City has an annual picnic and Christmas dinner for employees and their families.
